1st image: where is your main focus? on the volcanic rock, or the partial focused salt? (is that salt or is that crushed rock of somesort?) As for the tones they are balanced with blacks and whites, but no RICH whites or blacks.
2nd image: the focus is off on this image. unless it was intentional to the image, then good. if not, try to look closer at the image and where the focus is on. recollect your subject and set it at a new angle.
Minerals: Honest question: What are these anyway? :-/ Im not trying to be an asshole, that ship has sailed anyway, but am I looking at the (what looks to be) Lava Rock and (what looks to be) crushed crystal...or is that salt? Either way, it is a mineral, but the subjects being out of focus delineates poor photography, unfortunately.
